[English] mind, mindset 차이

 잘못 사용되는 영어 중에 mind라는 단어가 있다. 결론부터 말하면, 문맥에 따라 mindset(마음 가짐)을 써야될 수 있다.  mind는 마음, 생각을 의미하기 때문에, 마음 가짐을 의미하는 mindset과는 완전히 다르다. 또한, mindset의 의어로 mentality가 있다. 최근 많이 쓰이는 용어로는 Kobe Bryant(코비 브라이언트)의 Mamba Mentality가 있다. Oxford 영어 사전에 따른 mind, mindset, mentality의 정의는 아래와 같다.

 

mind

: "Mamba Mentality(맘바 멘탈리티)"는 고인이 된 프로 농구 선수 코비 브라이언트가 만든 용어다. 브라이언트는 코트에서 '블랙 맘바'라는 별명으로 유명했는데, 그는 '맘바 멘탈리티'를 개인이 도전을 극복하고 지속적으로 발전할 수 있는 마음의 상태라고 설명했다.
